Foodies’ Feast fires up Birmingham Bloggers’ Appetites

Pulling out all the stops for Brum’s best bloggers, Itihaas welcomed 35 foodies to dine out on their brand-new dishes. The guests sampled Itihaas’ summer sizzlers, which were debuted that evening to resounding praise. With scallops, lobster, tempura, and even Sambuca, making up the impressive menu, Itihaas made sure this was an Indian foodie feast like no other.

The event took place in the restaurant’s Maharaja Suite, allowing the bloggers to mingle amongst history before beginning their feast. Champagne was served on arrival, with canapés to follow. However, these were no ordinary starters: spiced cod tempura, salmon and goats’ cheese samosas, chicken tikka wraps, lamb koftas and papri chaat were all served up, fusing traditional Indian tastes with contemporary flavours.

Of course, no Itihaas meal would be complete without a cocktail or two, and the eclectic menu was painstakingly paired with drinks that complemented these innovative ingredients. Four cocktails entered the mix, each being built around “Poland’s Best-Kept secret”, Torunska Vodka. The spirit’s velvety smooth taste, blended with the delicate flavours of hibiscus, lychee, and cardamom, making for sweet sensations to off set the spice.

Next came the mains. Joining forces with firm favourites butter chicken and nalli gosht, new-comers scallop and prawn masala, and salmon in banana leaf made their mark. However, arguably the star of the show was the lobster panchporan: served in its shell, the curry was fiery and flavoursome, while still letting the lobster take centre stage.

Sealing the deal with dessert, Itihaas’ foodies’ feast showcased four of the best. A creamy chai masala mousse, apple and cinnamon samosas, and pomegranate and pistachio rasmali satisfied the sweet toothed bloggers, not to mention the flaming gulab jammun! Spiked with Sambuca, the gulab jammuns were where sweet-treats met boozy tipples. Finished off with a bright green, crème-de- menthe creation, the aperitifs were not for the faint-hearted.

The foodies’ feast was definitely a feat! If you would like to try the brand-new dishes for yourself, now’s your chance. You can book a table here, or by calling 0121 212 3383. What’s more, Itihaas is teaming up with celebrity chef Hardeep Singh Kohli for an evening of curry and comedy on 16 September. Tickets are already on sale here, so make sure not to miss out.
