The Perfect Indian Meal Pairings for Dry January
Approximately 9 million people in the UK took part in Dry January in 2023, giving up alcohol for the whole month as a personal resolution or as part of a charity campaign. With tangible short-term health benefits for blood pressure, weight loss and reduced diabetes risk, many of us are living without alcohol until February (at least).
Many people in Birmingham don’t drink alcohol all year round, for religious, cultural or personal reasons, so the Itihaas drinks menu has plenty of delicious non-alcoholic drinks. You don’t have to just stick to lemonade.
In this blog, we’re looking at the best soft drinks and mocktails from our menu to go with some of our favourite dishes at our Indian restaurant.

Non-alcoholic Beverages to Match Your Meal
Masala Chai Lass
This spiced Lassi is served ice-cold with warming spices such as cardamom, cinnamon, ginger and anise. Choose Chai lassi to compliment rich, aromatic dishes like Shai Palak Paneer, enhancing their warmth and depth.
Tropics
Tropics is mocktail (mock cocktail) of our own invention. We muddle fresh passion fruit and shake it with pineapple and mango juice over ice. The sweetness of this juice blend will enhance mild and floral dishes, such as Methi Aloo Gobi and our Vegetable Biryani.
Mango Lassi
A creamy yoghurt drink blended with sweet mango pulp.
Lassi (pronounced Luh-see) is a common South Asian drink that is cooling and refreshing. The creamy, fruity flavour is perfect for balancing the heat of spicy dishes like Laal Mirchi Rogan Josh or Mirchi Murgh.
As well as mango flavour, we also have Namkeen, Brown sugar, Rose Water and Masala Chai flavour Lassi.
Cucumber Lemonade
This drink is a refreshing blend of fresh cucumber, mint, lemon juice and sugar syrup, made tall with sparkling lemonade. The cucumber is cooling, making it the perfect drink to balance hot dishes such as Vegan Tofu Curry or Himalayan Fire Ribs, or to take the edge off the bold, tangy flavours in dishes like Amritsari Maachli. Enjoy a crisp, clear drink that’s more interesting than your standard lemonade.
Alcohol-Free Drinks that Feel Special
Going Tee-Total doesn’t have to mean compromising on flavour or enjoyment. A celebratory meal or a special night out doesn’t have to include wine or spirits. Itihaas customers who don’t drink alcohol enjoy a wide range of mocktails and lassi flavours, making the best Indian restaurant in Birmingham for non-alcoholic dining.
